In case you are in rush of booking your Christmas travels, I would like to point out one thing that may drive you crazy and ruin your holiday Alaska miles burning plan.
I was looking to book a flight from Beijing to Toronto in January in Business class, as it only costs 50,000 Alaska miles one way, which is a phenomenal value, even with the hefty scam charges.
After filling up the form on Alaska air website, the search results disappointed me with nothing available in January, 2019.
Before I rush into an alternative date, I paid attention to the calendar view and noticed there are two types of results showing on the award calendar: “blank” or “not available.” From experience with Alaska website, I clicked on one of the blank dates on the schedule. I got the following results:
Viola, it has plenty of availability.
So I have reported to Alaska’s social support team and seems they did not capture the essence of my message. So I decided to write a quick post in case anyone is “fooled” by Alaska’s website.
